UPHOLD GENUINE ACADEMIC EASE AND END THE SEMESTER

Updated: Jun 15, 2022

Still slowly recovering from the casualties brought by Typhoon Odette, students and the vast Filipino masses are now facing yet another struggle: the surge of Covid-19 cases along with the rapid spread of the Omicron variant. Thus, the UP Diliman University Freshie Council along with the Freshies, Shiftees, and Transferees ng Bayan call upon the administration of the university to extend the submission of course requirements before the semester ends. Students and professors from the university are having a hard time to comply with the necessary requirements due to the circumstances mentioned above. This isn’t the first time that the UP community has requested for the easing of academics along with the ending of the semester within the university.

Genuine academic ease and the ending of the semester must be seen through with utmost urgency, and by extending the deadline for submitting course requirements, both students and faculty members may be able to adjust and recover from the fatigue and problems caused by virtual classes and pandemic in order to meet the deliverables, due to the extended time that would be allotted to them.

Alongside the University of the Philippines bagging its many local and international rankings as an institution, considerate and empathetic policies should always be observed and upheld among its constituents. Honor and excellence means nothing without compassion.

The UP Diliman University Freshie Council vehemently calls on the UPD administration to extend the submission date of the academic requirements while upholding genuine academic ease among its constituents.
